P2P
File sharing is the process of sharing
information through computer data or a network. Specific users will have
different levels of privileges to access or modify it. P2P is one example of
file sharing. P2P means peer to peer networking. This network allows
computer/software hardware to communicate. There’s a P2P network that allows
users to locate and share the files. One successful P2P program is BitTorrent.
In “The BitTorrent Effect,” Thompson explains how BitTorrent allows users to
upload and download huge amounts of data. Typically, these file are bigger than
a single MP3. A lot of individuals use BitTorrent to download TV episodes or
movies. Unfortunately, BitTorrent did run into legal trouble with copyright
issues of the episodes. Despite this bump, the program is still great.
Downloading huge chunks of data is much easier with BitTorrent and faster.
