Creating interactive eBooks is one new type of “new media” that we can implement. Specifically, the textbooks. A lot of students are investing in online textbooks, instead of buying hard copies. Sometimes these textbooks are on specific websites such as McGraw Hill or Person. The lectures or stories can be more interactive by including videos, audio, or diagrams. The textbook shouldn’t just be an ordinary audiobook, but strive to create lessons or stories in a more personal or intimate level. Students or users are scrolling through the material, pages and pages of information. A lot of students are failing to grasp this material. Majority of these textbooks have abstract topics that could be further broken down. Textbook companies can utilize technology to create unique features on the readings, to guide students, and create a better understanding of the material.

  1. I think you came up with a really smart idea. I agree that textbooks have a lot of information that can be confusing to students especially about topics that are difficult. It would be so much easier having a video or audio to guide you through your reading and maybe point out the most important points that you should know. It's a great idea and I think this should be implemented in actual online textbooks!

  2. This is a really good idea! I also agree, many students have transferred over to becoming paperless because not only is it much easier for us to travel around with but it is also sometimes cost effective. Textbook companies can make videos on concepts that might be harder to grasp but maybe also collaborate with educators on YouTube. I say this because there are teachers and students who upload content of problem-solving or just content that is learned throughout school.

  3. I think this is a revolutionary new way to learn any subject. With interactive ways of reading, writing, and analyzing how the subject works, people can learn, can understand, and in turn teach others what is being presented. It is much more convenient and faster; any subject can be taught in real time. People can watch how the analysis unfolds from problem recognition, to problem analysis (process of breaking down what the problem is, how to look at the problem, what possible solutions can be addressed), and problem solving solutions in a whole new realistic way. This new media can also be developed for people with various types of disabilities. It can help them become more assertive and confident in their ability to learn and become more a part of mainstream society.
