Blog v Wiki
Wiki is a collaborative website, which can be edited
by the whole group, updated or deleted. According to “More on How to Build Your
Own Wikipedia,” Locher explains that wikis are created for team support,
company-wide knowledge, projects, and so forth. While a blog is a personal
website that is usually made by an individual. Users cannot change blogs. Blogs
have become an alternative to traditional publishing. Both wikis and blogs have
became a platform for users to express themselves and share information.
Convergence
technologies have replaced older technologies or services, just as new media is
replacing old media. A vast amount of digital technology such as pictures,
videos, and music can be found through phones and televisions. In this case,
blogs and wikis are these platforms where an individual can gain or spread
knowledge and be aware of what’s going on. Blogs and Wikis have become another network
for others to connect.
Today,
blogs are constantly used for collaboration and feedback, whether it’s intentionally
and unintentionally. In “Wal-Mart Tastemakers Write Unfiltered Blog,” Michael
Barbaro discusses this website became a forum for individuals to discuss gadgets,
new video games, and so forth. Customers have tested out various systems and
give unbiased feedback or opinions. Buyers feels that they have their own voice
and are not restricted by Wal-Mart.
